All classes are now being taught with the C.L.A.S.S. curriculum in mind. Monthly or as needed, Miss Behavior will be conducting B.A., M.A., and PhD tests for your dogs. Sign up today to get your dog his or her degree in doggy manners!
3-5 dogs per class That means more individual attention for each dog-owner team!
Starting January 1, 2012 - Class format will be temporarily changed to "FLEXIBLE ENROLLMENT" rather than open enrollment. Miss Behavior will be taking maternity leave in April 2012 so this is the only way to continue classes and get everyone graduated by the end of March. Please see linked calendars below for exact dates or email Miss Behavior for more info
What is flexible enrollment?
These classes allow you to start class every 3 weeks, instead of every 6 weeks (when a new round starts), allowing for a much shorter wait time to enter a class
Once you start class, there will be 6 topics to take in order to graduate, such as Foundation behaviors, Impulse Control, House Manners, Public Manners, Focused Fido etc. There is also some flexibility here - With 48+ hours notice, you can miss one class and make it up at no extra cost when the topic rolls back around or during the specific make-up dates. This way you won't get behind when you need to use your make-up. You and your dog will be exposed to many different dogs throughout your rotation allowing for more socialization and more realistic training opportunities!
Classes located at The Barn Doggy Daycare at 10 Main Street New Durham, NH All dogs/puppies must be up to date on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Kennel Cough!

Started in 1989, the CGC Program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club (akc.org)
There are 10 test items we will work on in class:
Test 1: Accepting a friendly stranger: This test demonstrates that the dog will allow a friendly stranger to approach it and speak to the handler in a natural, everyday situation.
Test 2: Sitting politely for petting: This test demonstrates that the dog will allow a friendly stranger to touch it while it is out with its handler.
Test 3: Appearance and grooming: This practical test demonstrates that the dog will welcome being groomed and examined and will permit someone, such as a veterinarian, groomer or friend of the owner, to do so. It also demonstrates the owner's care, concern and sense of responsibility.
Test 4: Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead): This test demonstrates that the handler is in control of the dog. The dog may be on either side of the handler. The dog's position should leave no doubt that the dog is attentive to the handler and is responding to the handler's movements and changes of direction.
Test 5: Walking through a crowd: This test demonstrates that the dog can move about politely in pedestrian traffic and is under control in public places. The dog and handler walk around and pass close to several people (at least three).
Test 6: Sit and down on command and Staying in place: This test demonstrates that the dog has training, will respond to the handler's commands to sit and down and will remain in the place commanded by the handler (sit or down position, whichever the handler prefers). The dog must do sit AND down on command, then the owner chooses the position for leaving the dog in the stay.
Test 7: Coming when called: This test demonstrates that the dog will come when called by the handler. The handler will walk 10 feet from the dog, turn to face the dog, and call the dog.
Test 8: Reaction to another dog: This test demonstrates that the dog can behave politely around other dogs. Two handlers and their dogs approach each other from a distance of about 20 feet, stop, shake hands and exchange pleasantries, and continue on for about 10 feet. The dogs should show no more than casual interest in each other. Neither dog should go to the other dog or its handler.
Test 9: Reaction to distraction: This test demonstrates that the dog is confident at all times when faced with common distracting situations. The evaluator will select and present two distractions.
Test 10: Supervised separation: This test demonstrates that a dog can be left with a trusted person, if necessary, and will maintain training and good manners. Evaluators are encouraged to say something like, "Would you like me to watch your dog?" and then take hold of the dog's leash. The owner will go out of sight for three minutes.
Once class is completed, you will be given the opportunity to take the test. This is optional and has an extra cost. It is done this way because some people choose to have a little more practice time before taking the test.
During week 5, we will go through mock testing. You can take the test over as many times as you like but there is a cost associated with each test since it is done by a different evaluator. The trainer and evaluator cannot be the same

Workshops and Seminars
Upcoming topics 45 minute sessions $20/dog ::: 5 dog limit $15 - human only Social dogs and humans only please! No Jumping TBD
A workshop designed to teach you how to keep your dog from jumping on you, new people, kids, counters, furniture, etc.
Other people tend to be the worst culprit in teaching your dog how TO jump. They think it's cute but they're just visiting and when they go home, you are left dealing with the dog who could potentially cause harm to another adult or child simply because of their exuberant greetings. Learn how to manage this behavior and teach incompatible behaviors, in order to keep your dog as a safe member of society! We will also tackle counter surfing, and how to teach "Off!"
Leash Manners Next session TBD upon request
Who wants a dog who constantly pulls on leash? Not only is this a frustrating behavior for you to deal with, but it can be pretty self-rewarding for the dog. Dogs pull because it works, not because they think they're alpha. Some dogs love to be in control, while other simply know that pulling gets them to where they want to go faster!
As their human, it's your job to teach them self control and the proper way to walk on leash. There are many methods for leash walking so join me in this workshop and find the way that will work best for you and your dog! We will also talk about different types of equipment, why certain kinds are or are not appropriate for your specific situation, so please bring what you use with you!
Agility Try-Its Starting back up in Spring 2011
Curious about trying agility but want to see how your dog would do? Well, here's your chance. Agility should be fun for both you and your dog so come try out my equipment with a low-pressure attitude. A chance to tire your dog out, conquer some of their fears, and see whether agility might be a sport you would like to get into.
Puppy Social
Next session: To be determined. Please contact me with interest $10/puppy Location: The Barn Dog Daycare, 10 Main st New Durham This is a one-week session provided for your puppy to make some friends! Holiday House Manners Next session: TBD 3 weeks $95* Specialty class
It's getting to be that time of year again... the relatives invade your home and you hope that your dog is on his best behavior so he doesn't get his muddy paws all over your mother-in-law, knock over the grandkids, steal the thanksgiving turkey off the table, and can settle down nicely amongst the chaos. Easier said than done?? Then this is the class for you! This was a popular class last season so register soon to secure your spot!
We will work on leave it, down-stay on their bed, counter-surfing, no jumping, and we will end the class with a real-life scenario of a sit down meal with no begging!
Do you have a shy dog? Don't think you can ever work him in a group setting? Well here's your chance!
This will be a small class of just 3-4 dogs. It will include lots of management in a
group setting. Learn to be your dog's advocate! Learn the skills you and
your dog need to improve shy behavior with good confidence building,
relationship building, and essential behaviors in order to create a
trusting relationship between you and your dog. This will be a slow paced class with visual barriers available as needed. The first class will be designed just to get your dog used to his/her environment and to talk you through some of the shy behavior.
Manners Fast Track Next session: To be determined Stay tuned!
This is a special 4-week class that prioritizes essential manners that every dog-human team should know!
The following is the list of manners this class will focus on: Come Leave It (Impulse Control) Leash Manners No Jumping Attention to owner ALL CLASSES

methods into action with YOUR dog.

Next session to be determined!
This class does just what it sounds like - It gets you and your dog Out and About in the real world! We will meet in a new location every week - talk about practical training! We will visit places like Hardware stores, Alton Bay, Local stores, Veterinarians, etc
Because we will be visiting public places, this is not a good class for aggressive dogs. Please contact me if you are not sure if your dog would be appropriate for this type of class
*This class is for those who have taken a group class previously or have had private training with Miss Behavior
