Frequently Asked Questions

What is open enrollment?

How are the classes structured?

What classes are being offered?

Which class should I take?

Do you have the schedules in calendar form?

How much do the classes cost?

What is flexible enrollment?

These classes allow you to start class every 3 weeks, rather than the usual 6+ weeks

When you sign up for a class, you will pick your start date and then will need to complete 6 rotating topics in order to graduate

Classes are structured so that each week does not depend on the previous week, and if you need to miss a week you can make it up at a later date without getting behind.

You and your dog will be exposed to many different dogs throughout your rotation allowing for more socialization and more realistic training opportunity!

What is the difference between the old open enrollment classes and the flexible enrollment classes starting in January?

The biggest difference is that, because I will be taking a maternity leave in April and will need to be sure everyone graduates by then, there are certain dates on which you can start class. Most are 3 weeks apart until you get to March, where the final class only has one starting date. You are also only able to make-up 1 class at no cost and only if given 48 hours notice. With less than 48 hours notice or if you need to make up more than one class, there is an additional $20 fee

Once I return from maternity leave, I hope to get the open enrollment going again as it has been a big hit!

How are classes structured?

There are many different levels to choose from depending on you and your dog's past experience with training, as well as his/her age. Each level is on a rotation so if you need to miss a class, you can come to any class with the same topic you missed.

Learn Your Manners - offered Saturdays from 10:10-11:00am, and Thursdays from 6:40-7:30pm open to dogs over 20 weeks
Sample Rotation:
 Saturdays Thursdays
5/28: Focused Fido
6/4:    House Manners
6/11:  Foundation Behaviors
6/18:  Compliance
6/25:  Impulse Control
7/2:    Public Manners
7/9:    Focused Fido
7/16: House Manners
7/23: Foundation behaviors
7/30: Compliance
and so on...

6/2: Public Manners
6/9: Foundation behaviors
6/16: Impulse Control
6/23: Focused Fido
6/30: House Manners
7/7: Creating compliance
7/14: Public Manners
7/21: Foundation behaviors
7/28: Impulse control
8/4: Focused Fido
and so on...

So if you start on 6/4 but need to miss the class on 7/9 - you can either wait until it comes around again in that day/time slot on 8/20 or you can go to the Thursday night Focused Fido class. If you think ahead, you can take the 6/23 class or you can take the 8/4 class. Depending on your dog's temperament, you may also be able to make up your class in STAR Puppy, at my discretion
